The Health Area of Ibiza and Formentera has added Dr. Hernán Rodríguez Montani to its medical oncology staff, coming from the Hospital de Marina Baixa de Vila Joiosa, in Alicante. With this addition, the service now has four active oncologists at the Can Misses Hospital.
The medical oncology staff is made up of Dr. Carlos Rodríguez Franco, head of the service; Dr. Diego Iglesias Riera; Dr. Urbicio Pérez González; and the recently incorporated Dr. Rodríguez Montani. The reinforcement allows to recover the full staffing of the service after months of increased demand for care.
During the year 2025, the Medical Oncology Service ofthe Can Misses Hospital attended a total of 7,723 consultations, a figure very similar to that recorded in 2024, when 7,731 were made. Of the total number of consultations made last year, 392 corresponded to first visits, which represents an increase of 1.03% over the 388 first consultations attended in the previous year.
Second and subsequent consultations totaled 7,331 in 2025, practically in line with the 7,343 recorded in 2024, reflecting stability in the service’s healthcare activity despite the pressure maintained in recent months.
The manager of the Ibiza and Formentera Health Area, Eduardo Escudero, took advantage of the incorporation of the fourth oncologist to thank “the commitment and effort of the medical oncology professionals during these most demanding months”, as well as the collaboration of the rest of the services in the internal reorganization to minimize the impact of sick leave. Escudero also emphasized the commitment of the Balearic Government to adapt the staff to the current needs and to the demand for care, with the aim of continuing to incorporate oncologists and to maintain the loyalty of the professional team.
