The program Patis Oberts returns to Sant Josep with important new features for this new edition, which will start on Monday, February 10. The initiative, promoted by the City Council through the departments of Social Action, Family and Equality and Culture, Heritage and Education, seeks to offer children and adolescents safe leisure spaces and educational activities in the courtyards of several schools in the municipality.
As the main novelty, the venues will be open every day of the week and, for the first time, also on Saturdays, thus expanding the offer of spaces for the young people of the municipality.
More schedules and new activities for children and adolescents
The playgrounds of CEIP Sant Jordi, CEIP Es Vedrà and CEIP L’Urgell will be transformed into play and learning areas open to school-age children, children under six accompanied by adults, teenagers and families. These spaces will host sports activities, educational workshops and games aimed at promoting coexistence and the personal development of the youngest members of the community.
The Patis Oberts will be available from Monday to Thursday from 16:00 to 19:00 hours, while on Saturdays they will be open from 17:00 to 20:00 hours. This expansion responds to the demand for more leisure spaces for teenagers, providing them with recreational alternatives in a safe and supervised environment.
A consolidated project within the Children’s Plan of Sant Josep.
Since its launch in 2022, Patis Oberts has established itself as a key tool within the municipal Children’s Plan, offering an environment of integration and socialization for young people in the municipality.
The Councilor for Social Action, Family and Equality, Marilina Serra, stressed that this initiative reinforces Sant Josep’s commitment as a Child Friendly City, a recognition awarded by UNICEF. “We must ensure that children and adolescents have access to safe spaces where they can learn, have fun and grow. Patis Oberts is one more tool for their well-being,” he stressed.
For her part, the Councilor for Culture, Heritage and Education, María José Ríos, thanked the collaboration of the schools that have made the initiative possible. “Thanks to the involvement of schools, we can offer a space that promotes coexistence and well-being of children and adolescents,” she said.
An educational space with rules of coexistence
The Patis Oberts will operate like any other public space in the municipality and, to ensure the safety of the attendees, a series of rules must be followed. Animals and motor vehicles will not be allowed to enter, they will be kept as smoke-free spaces and alcohol will not be allowed to be consumed.
Each playground will have a monitor in charge of the activities, although families will continue to be responsible for the supervision of the children. However, children from 8 years of age and older will be free to enter the playground with their families’ authorization.
