The young athlete Mia Barazategui, representative of the Club Surf Formentera, has managed to stand out in the European Sailing Championship in the U-15 category of windsurfing Tecno 293 class by taking third place in a close competition that brought together the best European talent in Athens. Despite facing difficulties in the last three races of the week, Barazategui maintained a sufficient lead to secure a podium place, thus fulfilling the expectations that placed her among the favorites. Barazategui stood out during the entire week of competition, and although her performance in the last races was lower than expected, the accumulated advantage gave her the necessary margin to hold her place on the podium. The young woman expressed her excitement for the result, which marks an important step in her sporting career and in her ambition to represent her island in top-level competitions.
More talent from Formentera
Another young promise of Formentera, Gala Fornés, also from Club Surf Formentera, concluded the European with a remarkable twelfth position, consolidating the representation of the island in this international competition. In addition, his teammates Matteo Gozzi and Hugo Colomar, who participated this week in the IQFoil World Championship in La Ràpita, Mallorca, closed their respective competitions in 46th and 65th places, in the U-19 and U-17 categories, respectively.
