The Consell d’Eivissa, through the Department of Culture, Education and Heritage, and the Club Náutico de Ibiza inaugurated this Wednesday at Sa Nostra Sala the exhibition “One hundred years of the Club Náutico de Ibiza (1925-2025)”. The exhibition, open to the public until November 29, 2025, proposes a journey through the most significant moments of the nautical history of the island, from the first regattas to current projects that connect sport, culture and sustainability.
A visual journey through Ibiza’s nautical history
The island’s Director of Culture, Miquel Costa, stressed that this centenary “is much more than an event: it is a recognition of the people of Ibiza who, generation after generation, have kept alive the relationship with the sea through sport and nautical culture”. Costa also pointed out that the club “is part of our collective heritage, a space where friendships, values and memories that define the identity of the island have been forged”.
For his part, the curator of the exhibition, Antoni Torres, explained that the exhibition brings together “documents, photographs, trophies and original objects that allow us to travel through one hundred years of Ibizan maritime history”. Among the materials on display are unpublished images of the first docks and regattas, as well as pieces linked to emblematic competitions such as the Xabec d’Or Trophy or the Breitling MedCup.
Tradition, innovation and commitment to society
Since its foundation, the Club Náutico de Ibiza has been a reference in the promotion of sailing and maritime activities, combining tradition and innovation to keep alive the link between the island and the sea. Its Municipal Sailing School has trained numerous generations of young people who have carried the name of Ibiza around the world.
In recent years, the entity has strengthened its social and educational side with projects such as “Jóvens per la Mar”, which brings the marine environment closer to the students of the Pitiusas Islands, or “A sea of possibilities”, a pioneering program of inclusive nautical activities for people with physical, mental and sensory disabilities. His work has been recognized with important distinctions, including the Virgen del Carmen Award (1948), the Gold Medal of the City of Ibiza (2009), the Ramon Llull Award of the Balearic Government (2018) and the Gold Medal of the Island of Ibiza (2025).
The exhibition “One hundred years of the Ibiza Yacht Club (1925-2025)” can be visited until November 29, 2025, Monday to Friday from 10.00 to 13.30 and 17.30 to 20.30 hours, and Saturdays from 10.30 to 13.30 hours, in Sa Nostra Sala, carrer d’Aragó, 17, Eivissa.
