While about 70 technicians with license C -the heavy vehicles- are planted in Mallorca and Menorca and will stop driving the new ambulances purchased by the Health and Care Management of the Balearic Islands (Gsaib) from Monday, in Ibiza, for the moment, park the pressures.

Deployment of the controversial new fleet of urgent and scheduled ambulances in Ibiza and Formentera
However, the UGT warns of imminent chaos in the scheduled transfer of people with reduced mobility due to the shortage of drivers to drive the units that exceed 3,500 kilos.
While Formentera escapes the conflict because it has no ambulance above that weight, in the rest of the islands service workers feel “very mistreated” by Gsaib management, which they accuse of making “deaf ears” since “a year ago” when “the Works Committee reported that to drive the new ambulances would require the C license”.
As advanced by La Voz de Ibizathe Govern has made an unforgivable mistake in the bidding documents, which was the cause of the failed contract of ambulances.
Most of the new vehicles exceeded 4,000 kilograms exceeded the 4,000 kilos of weightThe Conselleria de Salud was forced to dismantle part of these ambulances destined for scheduled medical scheduled medical transport.. In contrast, urgent transport ambulances have not been affected.
In Ibiza, only 7 drivers have the C license, so three ambulances were allocated without modifications. However, the UGT warns that there will be an “overload” of these technicians who will do shifts to cover Monday to Saturday from 06.00 to 22.00 hours.

Impending chaos
“It is not ruled out that here in Ibiza later on the staff could be planted,” warned this morning from the UGT to La Voz de Ibiza .
The union delegate of UGT in Ibiza and Formentera, Vicente Nadal, explained that the 7 drivers (out of a total of 48) who have the C1 license “have not refused for now”.
In any case, he explained that “we put it on the table to the Works Committee that what would happen if they were to leave. They did not know how to respond.
The union warns of an imminent chaos for the scheduled transfer of people with reduced mobility, which must be done in ambulances that have hydraulic ramps that lead the units to an excessive weight.
“All these people who have the C are going to be overloaded. Because, even if they put an attendant on it, they’re going to do all the chair services. They are going to be the only three ambulances for drivers with type C license, with hydraulic ramps that have not changed, which will carry all the work, “Nadal has detailed.
In this regard, he stated that “the services for people with reduced mobility will be provided only by these three ambulances. So the personnel will be overloaded. It will soon affect the work overload.
For that reason, he warns of a similar situation in the pitiusa in the making: “In Ibiza they don’t rule out that it could happen later on. In the long run it will be like this: if I charge the same as a driver who has no C and work more, we’ll see”.
On the other hand, he remarked that the position of the UGT is “always to dialogue”, although he said that “a year ago the unions suggested negotiations to IbSalut and the councilor. We have sent registered letters. But they have not wanted to sit down to try to solve it. That is why we have reached this situation”.
