The City Council of Sant Antoni de Portmany has finally approved the municipal budget for 2025, which amounts to 50,732,750.66 euros, 36.16% more than in 2024. The vote has been carried out in an extraordinary plenary session, in which the allegations presented have been rejected and the document has been approved with the vote against of the opposition.
The municipal accounts include an investment of 11.6 million euros in Public Works, partly financed with a loan of 6.6 million euros. They also contemplate an increase in the Culture, Youth, Social Welfare and Sports items, with the aim of improving the provision of municipal services and the welfare of citizens.
Key investments for 2025: urban planning, sports and rehabilitation
The mayor of Sant Antoni, Marcos Serra, stressed that the approved budget will allow the implementation of important projects for the municipality, with a priority focus on the area of Sports.
Planned actions include:
- Urbanism and Public Works: Creation of the boulevard in Vara de Rey street, construction of the Santa Agnès sidewalk, improvement of the area adjacent to Sant Rafel park, the Cap Negret dry dock ramp, demolition of the old City Hall, remodeling of the playground in Alicante street and expansion of the Can Bonet Social Center.
- Sports infrastructures: Drafting of the project for the expansion of the Can Coix sports area, where two soccer fields, five tennis courts and an indoor athletics track will be built. In addition, the integral reform of the Quartó de Portmany pavilion, the repair of roofs in the municipal sports centers and the construction of bleachers in the municipal soccer field are planned.
More police, housing assistance and improved services
The 2025 budget also contemplates a reinforcement in security and social welfare with measures such as:
- Creation of 10 new positions for the Local Police.
- Subsidies for facade rehabilitation and business grants in the West End.
- Increase in rental subsidies for people over 30 years of age.
- Increase in subsidies to sports clubs and NGOs.
- Funds earmarked for the drafting of the new General Urban Development Plan (PGOU).
95% discount on the ICIO for CEIP Guillem de Montgrí
The plenary of the City Council has also unanimously approved the declaration of special municipal interest of the works of replacement of slats and exterior carpentry in the CEIP Guillem de Montgrí, in Sant Antoni de Portmany. This measure allows a 95% rebate on the tax on constructions, installations and works (ICIO), considering that the action responds to criteria of social, cultural and historical-artistic interest.
