The City Council of Sant Antoni de Portmany has launched its traditional commercial revitalization campaign on the occasion of Christmas, promoted by the Department of Development of the Local Economy. Starting this Wednesday, the Consistory will begin the distribution of decorative trees among the establishments of the municipality in order to encourage Christmas shopping and reinforce the festive atmosphere in the streets.
The initiative, which is repeated every year with a great reception by local businesses, seeks to support businesses that remain open during these dates. In total, 120 white Christmas trees will be distributed, illuminated with LED lights and decorated with red and gold balls, which merchants can place at the entrances or shop windows of their establishments.
The councilman of Local Economic Development, Miguel Tur, stressed the importance of this action to give visibility to small businesses. “Proximity trade is an essential part of Christmas. We want it to be part of the festive atmosphere and look as it deserves during these special weeks,” he said. Tur added that the City Council continues to support initiatives that encourage the local economy and put in value to the stores in the municipality.
This action is in addition to the Christmas lighting, special decorations and music that have already been installed in various streets and parishes of Sant Antoni, helping to create a more attractive environment for residents and visitors.
Interested merchants can pick up their Christmas tree at the Tourist Information Office, located at Passeig de ses Fonts, 1, from Monday to Friday, from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm.
