The Plenary of the Sant Josep de sa Talaia Town Council has finally approved this Thursday the municipal budgets for 2026, amounting to 58,259,127.25 euros, which represents an increase of more than three million euros compared to 2025 and a rise of 6.35%. The accounts have gone ahead with the favorable vote of the government team and the councilor of Vox Araceli Colomar.
The same plenary session also approved the program and remuneration for the waste collection, street cleaning, coastal cleaning and posidonia management services, with an annual amount of 7,716,912.84 euros (VAT included), which is equivalent to a monthly remuneration of 643,076.08 euros.
Likewise, the Consistory has called an extraordinary and urgent plenary session for next Monday, December 22, at 8.30 a.m., in order to address an item relating to the contentious proceedings related to the agreements of ruin and eviction of the Don Pepe apartments.
Reinforcement of municipal personnel
The personnel chapter of the 2026 budget amounts to 15,318,217.32 euros, 5.31% more than in 2025. This increase will make it possible to reinforce the municipal staff by creating new positions, both for internal promotion and open positions.
Within the framework of internal promotion, five new positions will be created: an administrative assistant, an administrative clerk, an intermediate technician and two local police officers. For the open shift, the budget foresees ten new positions, including administrative assistants, a receptionist for sports facilities, a library technician, a lawyer and a technician for economic services, aimed at strengthening key areas of management and attention to citizens.
In addition, a temporary building maintenance and OCA inspection program is included, with the incorporation of a technical engineer to cover the control and maintenance needs of municipal facilities.
Investments, housing and sports
In terms of investments, the budget allocates 5,424,127.25 euros to the improvement of infrastructures, public facilities and municipal services. Among the outstanding actions are the reinforcement of the Cala Bassa and Platges de Comte road and several streets of the municipality, with an investment of 861,031.03 euros, the purchase of premises to expand the library of Sant Jordi (724,643 euros), the bicycle lane of Sant Jordi (470,059.15 euros) and the improvement of the supply network of Jaén street ( 456,888.04 euros), among other actions.
The budget also focuses on housing, with an item of 600,000 euros for rental assistance, youth emancipation and return of residents. In the field of sports, aid to clubs and entities reaches 786,600 euros, with a new line for sporting events in the municipality, and the bidding process for the future sports center of Sant Agustí is initiated.
The accounts also reinforce investments in coastline and beaches, with 4.32 million euros, 7.54% more than the previous year, and allocate 520,000 euros to animal welfare.
Revenue forecast
On the revenue side, the 2026 budget is based on a forecast considered to be realistic and balanced. Own resources, from taxes, fees and public prices, amount to 20,118,838 euros. Current transfers amount to 10,963,336.96 euros, while patrimonial revenues are estimated at 5 million euros. To this must be added 1.73 million euros in capital transfers and 415,000 euros from the municipal surplus.
