A high-rise crane has fallen this Friday afternoon against a building under construction in Pere Matutes Noguera Avenue, in Playa d’en Bossa (Ibiza), with no injuries or personal damage, as reported by the City Council of Ibiza.
The incident occurred in the early afternoon, when the structure was supported on the building itself, without collapsing or affecting the public road. At the time of the incident there were workers at the construction site, although no personal incidents were reported.
Preventive cordoning off of the area
Following the warning, members of the Ibiza Local Police moved to the site and cordoned off the area as a preventive measure, in order to ensure the safety of both workers and pedestrians and traffic in the vicinity of the construction site.
The City Council has stressed that the cordoning off was only a preventive measure, given the situation in which the crane was left, and that it was not necessary to activate other emergency devices beyond the security perimeter.
Awaiting securing or dismantling of the structure
According to the information provided by the Consistory, the crane will remain in that position until it can be secured or dismantled by specialized technicians, an intervention that will be carried out when safety conditions permit.
In the meantime, the area will continue to be marked to avoid any risk, and vigilance will be maintained until the work necessary to completely remove or stabilize the structure is completed.
