The snowstorm that is hitting several European airports has caused this Wednesday the cancellation of two flights at Ibiza airport, both operated by the company Transavia, on the route to Eindhoven (Netherlands).

According to Aena flight information, the cancelled operations are TRA6513, which was scheduled to arrive in Ibiza at 18.45 hours, and TRA6514, which was scheduled to take off from the island at 19.30 hours.
These cancellations come on a day marked by heavy snowfall, ice on runways and intense winds in several parts of northern and central Europe, which is directly affecting air operations and causing cancellations and delays in chain.
Amsterdam, Paris and Brussels at minimum due to snowfall
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is one of the most affected by the winter episode. The Dutch infrastructure has canceled more than 700 flights this Wednesday, and accumulates more than 2,000 operations suppressed since the beginning of the week due to the persistent storm.
Major problems are also being reported at Paris airports, especially at Charles de Gaulle and Orly, where French authorities have reported around 100 cancelled flights at Charles de Gaulle and about 40 at Orly, according to local press.
At Brussels airport, meanwhile, delays are expected throughout the day due to snow removal and de-icing of aircraft, runways and taxiways.
Thawing and snow removal, key to restore normality
Snow removal operations and aircraft de-icing are the main obstacles to the normalization of air activity at the affected aerodromes. In many cases, these tasks force to reduce runway capacity and generate accumulated delays in departures and arrivals, which affects airports connected to these routes, such as Ibiza.
For the time being, further incidents are not ruled out if adverse weather conditions persist during the next few hours.
