The Ibiza Town Hall has informed that a total of 75 applicants have registered in the public call to fill four positions of Local Police of the municipality. The selection process now moves forward with the celebration of the physical tests, scheduled for December 19 at the Sánchez y Vivancos athletics track.
The call corresponds to four positions of the scale of Special Administration, subscale of Special Services, class Local Police and its auxiliaries, through the competitive examination system in free shift. The rules governing the process were published in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB) no. 144, of October 30, 2025.
These new positions are part of the modification of the Public Employment Offer (OPO) of 2025, approved by the Local Government Board on October 20. Their incorporation responds to the replacement rate established by state legislation, which considers public safety a priority sector within the municipal competences.
Population growth outpacing workforce growth
Currently, the Ibiza Local Police has 99 members. In the last decade, the force has grown by less than 11%, while the population of the municipality has grown by around 30%. This imbalance between the demographic and tourist increase and the evolution of the police force has led the City Council to strengthen the body with new additions.
The objective is to ensure the safety and welfare of citizens, as well as to meet the increase in services generated by the capital of Ibiza, especially in periods of increased tourist pressure.

The approval of this job offer is framed within the powers delegated to the Local Government Board by Mayoral Decree no. 2023-5703, dated June 21, 2023, published in BOIB no. 88, dated June 29, 2023. All of the above in accordance with the provisions of Article 21 of Law 7/1985, regulating the Bases of Local Government.
