The Consell de Formentera has received this Tuesday two new electric vehicles, acquired thanks to the financing of the European funds Next Generation in the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
The cars, which have involved an investment of 61,999.19 euros, will be used in the areas of Social Welfare and Agriculture.
A further step in the electrification of the municipal fleet
This new addition is part of a renewal process initiated in 2023, with a global tender of 400,000 euros for the purchase of eight electric vehicles divided into four lots.
The two vehicles delivered this Tuesday correspond to the second batch and are added to the three already received in December, which involved an investment of 122,750 euros and were destined to the services of Social Welfare, Cleaning, Canera and Slaughterhouse.
The modernization of the municipal fleet will continue in the coming months with the arrival of two new electric vehicles for the Local Police of Formentera, corresponding to the third batch of the acquisition plan.
A commitment to sustainable mobility
The Consell de Formentera has launched this initiative with the aim of replacing the old fleet of municipal vehicles, whose useful life has come to an end and is essential for the provision of public services.
With this commitment to electric mobility, the island institution seeks to eliminate CO₂ emissions, reduce noise pollution and improve the efficiency of municipal services.
However, the last lot of the plan, which provided for the purchase of a vehicle for the fire department, has been cancelled, leaving the incorporation of this key resource pending.
