The Executive Council of the Consell Insular de Ibiza has approved the arrangement of 20 residential foster care places for children between 0 and 11 years old who are in care or administrative guardianship. The agreement, which is articulated through two concerts with specialized entities of the third social sector, involves a total investment of 2,658,616.20 euros and will have an initial duration of one year, with the possibility of extension.
The agreement is formalized in two different lots. The first includes 12 residential care places with the Congregación Terciarias Trinitarias Casa de Santa Eulàlia, for an amount of 888,633.60 euros. The second batch includes eight places arranged with the Fundació Diagrama Intervenció Psicosocial, with a budget of 1,769,982.60 euros.
Places have been organized according to age groups, with the aim of guaranteeing that each child is cared for in a resource adapted to his or her stage of development. The center managed by the Trinitarian Tertiary Congregation is mainly oriented to children in early childhood, with attention focused on care, stability and accompaniment typical of the youngest ages. On the other hand, the Fundació Diagrama resource welcomes older children between the ages of 0 and 11, with a residential model adapted to their educational and developmental needs.
This new model makes it possible to replace the previous system, based on temporary solutions or non-contracted resources, with a stable, planned service with guaranteed places, specifically designed for the care of very young children. The concerted approach ensures the availability of fixed educational teams, residential environments adapted to very young children and continuous care, with individualized educational projects and the possibility of incorporating additional support when the children’s needs so require.
In addition, the agreement improves the planning capacity of the Consell, by guaranteeing authorized places, avoiding emergency situations without adequate resources and reinforcing coordination with educational, health and social services. The difference between both lots responds to the typology and capacity of the residential resources, adjusting the number of places and the service to the characteristics of each center.
From the Department of Social Welfare, Family and Equality, have stressed that “this agreement allows us to clearly improve care for younger children who are under the protection of the Consell, with stable resources, specialized and designed specifically for their age“. In this sense, they stressed that these are “very vulnerable children, and this agreement gives us the tools to guarantee them safer, continuous and higher quality care than we had until now”.
