In the framework of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Womenthe Consell de Ibiza has committed this Monday to implement “as soon as possible” a 24-hour crisis center to assist victims of sexual violence. This announcement was made during the reading of the institutional manifesto, signed by representatives of the PP, PSOE and Unidas Podemos, which reaffirms the common fight against gender violence. The manifesto urges the island’s municipalities to join the VioGen system, which carries out a comprehensive monitoring of cases of gender violence, and stresses the importance of inter-institutional collaboration. In addition, the Consell has reiterated its commitment to the protection of victims, education in equality, and awareness and prevention of violence, with special emphasis on children, adolescents and young people. Among the actions announced, it also includes the reinforcement of the work of the Oficina de la Dona, a key piece in the care and support of affected women. “The eradication of gender violence is not just a political or private matter; it is a universal challenge that requires the unity of the whole society,” stressed representatives of the Consell. The commemoration of November 25 also included events in the town halls of Ibiza, Sant Antoni, Sant Josep and Santa Eulària, where minutes of silence and readings of manifestos in rejection of gender violence took place.
