Electricity demand in the Balearic Islands recorded a notable increase during the month of November 2025, standing 7.9% above the figures for the same period of the previous year. Total demand for the archipelago reached 413,700 MWh, with the islands of Ibiza and Formentera showing a significant dynamism that underlines the upward trend of energy consumption in the region.
Ibiza and Formentera drive growth
Although the highest percentage increase at the individual level corresponded to Menorca (up 15.5%), the Pitiusas showed solid increases, surpassing the average growth of Mallorca (7.2%).
Formentera experienced a growth of 11.1% in its electricity demand during November, totaling 2,937 MWh consumed. This percentage increase is the second highest recorded in the Balearic Islands for that month. In absolute terms, Formentera’s demand in November 2025 exceeded the 2,643 MWh recorded in 2024.
For its part, Ibiza recorded a demand of 61,575 MWh in November 2025, an increase of 7.8% over the previous year, when 57,117 MWh were demanded.
Peak power
The intense demand was not only reflected in monthly consumption, but also in peak power records. Both islands set new records during November:
- Ibiza reached a monthly peak power of 133.8 MW on November 27, 2025, which represents a significant increase of 21.3% compared to the peak power recorded in November 2024.
- Formentera recorded its maximum peak of 8.1 MW on November 28, 2025, marking a 17.4% increase over the previous year.
The Balearic Islands as a whole also saw their monthly maximum power reach 916.0 MW on November 27, 2025, 23.1% more than in 2024.
Accumulated annual balance
Growth remains steady in the annual perspective. In the accumulated period from January to November 2025, energy demand in Ibiza amounted to 943,748 MWh, 7.1% higher than in the same period of the previous year. Formentera has registered a cumulative demand of 58,954 MWh, an increase of 5.1%. In comparison, the total accumulated variation of the Balearic Islands from January to November is 3.9%.
These consumption and maximum power data reflect a sustained growth in electricity demand in the Pitiusas Islands throughout 2025, according to information provided by Endesa.
