The Balearic Government will pay in advance the subsidies of the call for food guarantee, endowed with 1.5 million euros for projects to be developed during 2026. Among the beneficiary entities is Caritas Ibiza, within an aid package aimed at strengthening the distribution of food and basic necessities and to support the operation of soup kitchens in the Balearic Islands, with the aim of supporting people and families in vulnerable situations.

Ibiza, epicenter of the housing emergency that triggers social exclusion in the Balearic Islands
As reported Tuesday by the Ministry of Families, Social Welfare and Dependency Care, the funds will ensure access to food and basic necessities, as well as support the operation of soup kitchens in different parts of the Balearic Islands.
The subsidies will be allocated to three main lines of action: the distribution of food among social entities, direct distribution to individuals and families, and the maintenance of soup kitchens, considered an essential resource for those in vulnerable situations.
The general director of Social Welfare, Marina Fiscaletti, stressed that this economic endowment “translates into food, support and dignity for thousands of people“, and highlighted the “essential” role played by the social entities working in the field.
Advance payments
Another novelty highlighted by the Regional Ministry is that the grants will be paid in advance and for the total amount granted, which will allow the beneficiary organizations to plan and implement the projects from the beginning, without the need to assume previous costs.
Among the entities with approved projects are the Food Bank, the Red Cross, Caritas (Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza), Mallorca Sense Fam, SOS Mamás Baleares, the Monti-sion Foundation, the Tardor Association, the Zaqueo Association and Ebenezer Maranata, among others, which carry out their work in various municipalities of the Islands.
