Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport has opened a joint investigation with the Guardia Civil following an unusual incident in which a private vehicle accessed a service road in Terminal 4 (T4), a restricted area where private cars cannot enter.
According to El Mundo, the driver, a young man who was on his way to pick up his grandmother, allegedly followed the GPS indications, which led him to slip into an area exclusively for maintenance vehicles.
Undue access detected within minutes
The car entered the area, following another vehicle that was authorized to circulate in the area, through a service tunnel. However, it was quickly detected and the security protocol was activated, alerting theairport security servicesand the Civil Guard, as confirmed by Aena sources to Europa Press.

Aena investigates how this could have happened
Aena has opened an internal investigation, together with the Guardia Civil, to determine how the access occurred, whether there were failures in the security systems and what measures can be implemented to prevent a recurrence.
