The Guardia Civil has carried out training sessions aimed at public safety officers and local police of Ibiza and Sant Josep to strengthen the prevention of jihadist radicalization.
This program, promoted at the national level, seeks to provide security forces with tools to identify and act against possible terrorist threats in their territories.
Training to anticipate the threat
The training has been provided by specialists in counter-terrorism of the Information Headquarters of the Directorate General of the Civil Guard and the delegation in the Balearic Islands. During the sessions, the agents have received detailed information on the evolution of radicalization processes, the patterns of action of extremist groups and the warning signs that may indicate an imminent risk.
One of the key points was the early detection of individuals who could be in the process of radicalization, with emphasis on the cases of people born or raised in Western countries who end up adopting extremist and violent positions. The importance of cooperation between police forces and the need for a preventive approach in the fight against terrorism was also discussed.
A coordinated effort in the Balearic Islands
These conferences are part of a program that is being developed in different parts of the country and have had the participation of 90 local police officers from different municipalities of the Balearic Islands, including Ibiza and Sant Josep. In addition, agents from Palma, Manacor, Alcúdia, Inca and Llucmajor, among other localities, have attended.
With this training, the Guardia Civil reinforces its commitment to citizen security and threat prevention on the islands. Collaboration between the different security forces is essential to anticipate possible risks and ensure an effective response to any signs of extremist activity in the region.
