This Friday, November 8 at 7 p.m. at the Espacio Cultural Can Ventosa, the Ibiza Clásica 2024 festival will begin with the concert Clàssica? This event will feature musicians Ramsés Puente (violin), Astrid Canales (viola), Carlos Vesperinas (cello), Lorenzo Prats (piano) and Noel Sáez (percussion).
- Tickets are now available on the festival’s website www.eivissaclassica.com at a price of 8 euros, the proceeds of which go entirely to the financing of the festival itself.
At the Clàssica? concert, the audience will enjoy a repertoire that includes works such as Spiegel im Spiegel by Arvo Pärt, Magnolia by Jon Brion, Glass and Hawaii Oslo by Hania Rani, Metamorphosis 2 and The Truman Show by Philip Glass, Y Giorni by Ludovico Einaudi, Enana by Sulkhan Tsintsadze and Benedictus by Karl Jenkins. The concert program revolves around the work of composer Arvo Pärt, Spiegel im Spiegel, which translated means something like Mirror in the Mirror. Thus, the concert takes advantage of this suggestive image to open the debate about what is really meant by classical music and what exactly it encompasses. The truth is that, like all the arts, it has reached in this new century an amalgam of subgenres and fusions that makes it difficult and perhaps sterile to establish labels beyond what is necessary. The mirrors that are reflected in other mirrors and these, in turn, again in others, are a perfect metaphor for this phenomenon of diversity that we are experiencing in recent times. The work of a composer is nothing more than the reflection of all his influences, a mirror that is reflected in others, in a loop that feeds back eternally.
About the Listening at School Project
Escucha en la Escuela is an educational project linked to the Ibiza Clásica festival. Taking advantage of the fact that the ensembles have prepared the repertoire for the concert, this project offers a pedagogical and fun show in different schools in the municipality of Ibiza. The project not only arouses the curiosity of the students, but also serves to make the festival known to the youngest. This 2024, the activity will allow schools to visit the rehearsals of the musicians, to see firsthand how a repertoire is prepared for a concert and the work that this requires. This year a total of five schools in the municipality will participate.
