The Local Police of Ibiza has lost the connection to the database system of the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) that allows agents to connect to the central to perform queries of documentation of vehicles and drivers as well as queries in the register of inhabitants of the municipality. In this context, the PSOE denounces “the lack of management and the serious situation that the body of the Local Police of Ibiza is experiencing, which is causing serious administrative breaches and many difficulties for the agents to perform their work”. The City Council has explained that this is due to security issues detected by DGT, which has forced the Consistory to process a new digital certificate so that agents can access the database, as reported this afternoon by Periódico de Ibiza. At the moment, the agents of the Local Police cannot use correctly with the General Direction of Traffic all the information related to the vehicles that must be consulted for different reasons, among which stand out traffic accidents, long stay parking, abandonment of vehicles among others, and they must interpose the denunciations manually. Meanwhile, from the City Council have said that they are working with the base of the Civil Guard.
Another failure
In addition to this, according to the PSOE, there is another more serious problem: the Local Police has had, for a few days now, with only one cell phone for the management and reception of emergencies in the city.
“Until now the call line of the 092 emergency service, reached the police station of the Local Police of Eivissa in several telephone devices, so that emergencies could be attended by up to 4 local police officers who were on duty or be referred to the National Police. At the moment, emergencies have only one entry channel on the only cell phone they reach, making it difficult to attend to citizens”, they pointed out.
