The Local Police of Sant Josep has carried out a road safety control at the exit of a school in the municipality, where it has detected more than 13 violations related to the use of seat belts and child restraint systems(CRS).
This action is part of a campaign to reinforce safety in school environments and raise drivers’ awareness of the importance of complying with regulations.
Non-compliance in the transportation of minors
During the control, the agents found that several drivers were not using the mandatory safety devices for minors. The regulations establish that children under 1.35 meters tall must travel in the rear seats with a restraint system appropriate to their size and weight.
However, in several inspections it was detected that some minors were traveling without this device or even in the front seat, without complying with the exceptions provided by law.
Failure to comply with these rules poses a high risk in the event of an accident, as a child without the proper restraint system can suffer serious injuries even in low-speed impacts.
Tighter controls and penalties
Given the number of infractions registered, the Local Police of Sant Josep has announced that it will intensify controls at the entrances and exits of schools. In addition, he called on drivers to assume their responsibility for the safety of minors and to comply with current regulations.
“It is not a question of fines, but of avoiding tragedies. The safety of children depends on decisions that are made in seconds,” the officers reminded.
