The Civil Guard has clarified a series of six robberies committed in establishments in Sant Antoni de Portmany, which had generated concern among traders in the municipality. The alleged perpetrator of the acts has been arrested after an investigation carried out in the framework of Operation Owl, as reported Thursday by the armed institute.
The robberies took place mostly during the month of November, although one of them dates back to August. All of them took place in cafés and bars in the locality, where the thief would have gained access using force to steal money and other valuables.
The Judicial Police Team of the Guardia Civil of Ibiza made several inquiries and managed to identify the suspect, for which an arrest warrant was issued. The search culminated last Tuesday, when a patrol of the Local Police of Sant Antoni located the individual during a routine identification.
Upon verifying that he was listed as wanted by the Civil Guard, the agents placed him at the disposal of the state body, which closed the investigation after taking custody of the detainee.
With this action, the Guardia Civil dismantled a wave of robberies that had generated alarm among businesses in Sant Antoni, especially at a time of year marked by reduced activity and increased vulnerability in some locals.
