The Three Wise Men visited Formentera on Monday, where they held their traditional meeting with the children of the island despite the bad weather caused by the Francis squall, after a special device coordinated by the Consell Insular de Formentera, the organization of the parade and the emergency services to prioritize safety without sacrificing the celebration.
The main modification of the program allowed the little ones to receive Their Majesties in the Poliesportiu Antoni Blanc, which became throughout the afternoon the epicenter of the day with children’s shows and music, in a controlled environment and adapted to the adverse weather forecasts.
Before this central act, the Three Wise Men went to El Pilar de la Mola, where they participated in the adoration of Bon Jesús, followed by the distribution of gifts and a popular chocolate party, organized by the La Mola Festivities Commission, maintaining one of the most deeply rooted traditions of the day.
In Sant Ferran, the royal visit began at 17.30 hours, with the arrival of Their Majesties to the church for the adoration of the Bon Jesus and the subsequent distribution of gifts, accompanied by a new chocolatada in the Parish Hall.
The program in Sant Francesc started after 4.30 pm, with the children’s show El mundo de Azahar and the subsequent performance of the company Acrobati-K, as a prelude to the arrival of the Three Kings.
The official arrival of Their Majesties took place at 6.30 p.m. at the Poliesportiu Antoni Blanc, accompanied by the Royal Pages and the Hathi show of the Centre de Titelles de Lleida, which transformed the venue into a space full of magic and emotion designed for the enjoyment of all families.
The message from the Consell de Formentera
The president of the Consell Insular de Formentera, Óscar Portas, was in charge of welcoming the Three Wise Men, highlighting the value of illusion, education and respect as axes of coexistence, as well as the institutional commitment to continue building a Formentera with more opportunities, greater cohesion and a look to the future.
The Consell Insular thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation with the changes introduced in the program and stressed that all decisions were taken to ensure a safe and orderly development of one of the most anticipated nights of the year, especially for children.
Despite the adverse weather conditions, the magic was once again fulfilled in Formentera, and once again the Three Wise Men arrived punctually to their appointment with the little ones, keeping alive the illusion that marks the end of the Christmas holidays on the island.
