The stallholders of the Mercat de Nadal of Formentera have raised a formal request to extend the opening period of their booths, motivated by the interruptions caused by adverse weather conditions in recent weeks.
According to calculations made by the vendors’ collective, the market has had to remain closed between 15 and 17 days due to bad weather, which has significantly affected the development of its commercial activity.
The initiative to extend the deadline not only responds to an economic need, but also to a desire for social revitalization, as highlighted in dialogue with IB3. The traders emphasize that, at a time when many shops on the island are closed, the Christmas market becomes an essential refuge for public life.
Vendors recognize the importance of “making a little community” and bring “atmosphere and joy” to Formentera in these dates where the leisure offer is more limited.
