The City Council of Ibiza held this Wednesday, December 10, a new edition of the traditional carol singing included in the Christmas celebrations program. More than 300 primary schoolchildren from various schools in the municipality participated in this event that each year brings together families and neighbors.
The event took place in the tent installed in the Paseo de Vara de Rey, central stage of the activities of ‘Ibiza, city of Christmas’, which during these weeks concentrates cultural and festive proposals aimed at all audiences.
The third deputy mayor of the Ibizan capital, Blanca Hernández, attended the meeting and wanted to publicly thank the work of schools and teachers. She especially highlighted “the enthusiasm and effort that the children have put to share their carols with all citizens”.
Repertoire
During the event, the participating groups performed both traditional carols and creative compositions prepared in the schools themselves. The performances took place in half-hour shifts and included the participation of CEIP Poeta Villangómez, CEIP Portal Nuevo, CC Nuestra Señora de la Consolación, CC Sa Real and CEIP Can Cantó, the latter present with students from all cycles.
In recognition of their contribution, each center received a 200 euro voucher for musical school supplies, an initiative with which the City Council seeks to promote artistic training and to continue promoting music in the educational field.
The cantada once again became one of the most emotional activities of the Christmas program, filling the heart of Ibiza with children’s voices and festive spirit.
