The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts stable weather in the Balearic Islands until next Thursday, January 15, while from Friday a change of weather is expected to coincide with the celebrations of Sant Antoni, when rains could be recorded in the archipelago.
This has been indicated by the delegate of the Aemet in the Balearic Islands, Maria Jose Guerrero, in statements to Europa Press, which has advanced that the beginning of the week will be marked by an anticyclonic situation, with little cloudy skies and only some intervals of high clouds.
This stable weather will be accompanied by morning mist in Mallorca on Tuesday and Wednesday, which on Thursday will extend to the whole of the Islands, with the appearance of fog banks in the early morning and early hours of the morning.
As for temperatures, a thermal rise is expected throughout the week, with values that could be above normal for this time of year. Highs will range between 15 and 17 degrees on Monday and Thursday, and between 16 and 19 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday. The minimum, meanwhile, will move in general between 4 and 10 degrees, although in the early hours of Monday January 12 have been recorded lower values.
By islands, in Mallorca it has reached 0 degrees in areas such as Escorca (Lluc) and Campos (Salines), while 1 degree has been recorded in Binissalem and 2 degrees in points such as Santa Maria, Palma airport, Manacor, the UIB, Sineu, Sa Pobla and Muro. In Menorca, the minimums have been 3 degrees in Ciutadella and Cala Galdana, and in Ibiza 2 degrees have been recorded in Sant Joan de Labritja.
Change of weather from Friday
From Friday, January 16, coinciding with the revetla of Sant Antoni in many municipalities, a change of weather is expected due to the arrival of a trough to the archipelago. According to Guerrero, for Friday night occasional and isolated rains are not ruled out, which could be more intense and widespread on Saturday, the day of the festival.
The forecast suggests that this situation of instability will be maintained during the weekend and the first half of next week, although the delegate of the Aemet has stressed that, since there are still several days, it will be necessary to follow the evolution of weather models.
