The Second Section of the Court of Palma will judge on Tuesday (10.00 am) three men who in July 2023 were caught at a home in the town of Sant Antoni de Portmany with various types of drugs valued at more than 35,000 euros. The Prosecutor’s Office asks for a total of 20 years in prison for them as alleged perpetrators of crimes against public health. It also requests that they be sentenced to pay fines totaling nearly 70,000 euros. According to the representative of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in his indictment, on July 29, 2023 agents of the State security forces carried out a search of a house in the municipality of Ibiza. Inside were the three accused, of Senegalese origin, with Spanish documentation and deprived of liberty since then, and three other persons who have not been identified. In the house they found numerous narcotic substances which they possessed with the alleged intention of selling them to third parties. Specifically, the agents seized 62 grams of cocaine, 30 grams of ketamine, six kilos of MDMA and 4.71 kilos of cannabis – both resin and buds – all valued at 35,034 euros. In addition, at the time of their arrest the defendants had on their person a total of 8,500 euros in cash allegedly obtained from the sale of the drugs and other small amounts in pounds sterling. The prosecution attributes ownership of various quantities of drugs to each of the defendants, on the basis of which it requests different prison sentences and fines. While for the two who allegedly had less narcotics, they are asking for six years in prison, the one with the larger quantity faces a sentence of eight years.
