The number of migrants arrived in Ibiza and Formentera this Wednesday amounts to 73 people, after the interception of three pateras in Formentera and Ibiza, as reported by the Government Delegation in the Balearic Islands. These are the first pateras detected in 2025, after a 2024 in which the region recorded the arrival of more than 5,800 migrants aboard nearly 350 boats.
In the area of Pilar de la Mola, in Formentera, the Guardia Civil and the Local Police intercepted two boats at 14:00 hours, with 52 people on board, all of North African origin and in apparent good health. To these figures must be added the 21 migrants previously detected on La Xanga beach in Ibiza, where a boat was located at 12:15 pm. Among them, there were 20 people of sub-Saharan origin and one North African. The arrival of these boats is evidence of the beginning of another year marked by migration in the region, a problem that continues to be the focus of attention of local and national authorities.
