In June 2024, a man identified as Radu Muntean was the victim of a violent shooting in Ibiza that left him seriously injured. A year and a half later, he complains that neither the Guardia Civil nor the courts have made any progress in the investigation of his case.
The incident took place on June 21 in an area of houses in Sa Carroca. Radu Muntean was accompanying a friend who was looking to occupy a house. However, before they could reach their destination, they felt how someone, whom they did not see, rebuked them and started shooting.
According to Muntean’s testimony to IB3, the assailant shouted “thieves” and also uttered the phrase “la dronico puta” before starting the attack. Radu has insisted that the incident had “nothing to do with robbery”. Although the type of weapon used is unknown because not a single bullet has been found, the victim believes that the “entire magazine” (the full magazine) was fired.
Devastating consequences
The bullets hit Radu in different parts of his body. One in the belly and one in the leg. After being wounded, the friend who accompanied him left him at the door of the emergency room and fled out of fear.
The man was in a coma for 34 days. Due to the severity of his injuries, doctors had to amputate his leg and also remove part of his intestine to save his life.
Search for justice hindered
Radu Muntean deeply regrets the treatment he received, claiming that he was treated as a criminal while he was the victim. In fact, he claims that the police visited the hospital to ask him questions when he was “almost dead” and in very bad shape, acting as if he was the culprit.
Muntean calls for justice to be applied “for everyone”. Currently, he is unable to work, so he and his brother, along with his mother, must support him.
Despite the seriousness of the case and the time that has elapsed, her lawyer has filed “numerous writs” in the Ibiza Courts to request information and ask for the case to be investigated, but these requests have not been successful. Although the investigation seems to be at a standstill, the Civil Guard assures that the investigation continues and that the case “remains open”.
