The Plenary of the Town Council of Eivissa will approve this Thursday the free cession to the Balearic Institute of Housing (IBAVI) of a plot of land located at 18 Vicent Serra i Orvay street, former site of the Labrador Market. This land will be used for the construction of subsidized housing (VPO) for rent, as part of the Integral Housing Plan “Eivissa, a city to live in”.
The mayor of Eivissa, Rafael Triguero, stressed that this initiative is a firm step towards solving the housing problem affecting the island: “Our goal is to contribute to solving the problem of access to housing with real and effective measures. That is why we are projecting some 1,000 housing units to offer new life opportunities in our city”. This measure is in addition to others already approved, such as the recent transfer of the Can Cantó land to IBAVI for the construction of 65 subsidized housing units for rent on a 4,020 square meter plot next to the Can Cantó public school. This project seeks to increase the supply of public housing and promote access to affordable rentals on an island marked by rising prices in the real estate market. The agreement to be approved this Thursday includes a 15-day public information period, during which interested parties may consult the file and submit allegations on the municipal website or through the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB). The government team, led by Triguero, reaffirms its commitment to the creation of a public affordable housing stock that facilitates access to a home for the most vulnerable families on the island. These initiatives are part of the build-to-rent program, promoted in collaboration with the Balearic Government, which includes the transfer of additional land to build more rental housing in Eivissa.
