The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated for this Thursday, November 6, a yellow alert for rain and storms on the islands of Ibiza and Formentera. The warning will be in effect from four in the morning until twelve noon, with a probability of between 40 and 70 percent of heavy rainfall and storm activity.
According to the official forecast, the rains could reach 20 liters per square meter in an hour and could be accompanied by storms with hail and strong gusts of wind. This situation is part of a front of instability that will also affect the whole of the Balearic archipelago, with special incidence in Mallorca, where the alert will remain active throughout the day in the Sierra de Tramontana and in the south of the island.
In the case of the Pitiusas, the most critical hours are expected between early morning and late morning, when showers could be more intense and concentrated in very short periods of time.
The AEMET reminds that, although the yellow level does not imply extreme weather phenomena, it may pose a risk for certain activities. It is recommended to exercise extreme caution, especially on the road, avoid unnecessary travel during hours of greatest risk and keep informed through official channels of the weather service and emergency services. It is also advised not to go near torrents or flooding areas and, in the event of a thunderstorm, to take shelter indoors and avoid staying outdoors or under isolated trees.
The weather in the Balearic Islands this Wednesday
Wednesday will be relatively calmer in the Balearic Islands, although there will be an increase in cloudiness as the day progresses due to the approach of the front that will leave rains on Thursday.
Low cloudy skies are expected in the early hours, with intervals of high clouds that could increase from the afternoon. Temperatures will remain mild, with highs around 20 or 21 degrees and lows between 13 and 15. The wind will blow from the southwest moderately, with some more intense gusts on the coast and high areas, but without reaching warning levels.
In general, Wednesday is presented as a transition day, with stable weather and pleasant temperatures, before the arrival of the rainy episode that will especially affect Ibiza and Formentera in the early hours of Thursday.
