Pilar Bonet’s experience at the Casino des Moll

Ibizan journalist Pilar Bonet will give a talk in which she will review her 34 years as a correspondent for El País, from the Soviet Union in the 1980s to Vladimir Putin’s Russia. The conference will follow a chronological journey that spans from her arrival in Moscow in 1984, when the USSR was facing its last years, until 2021, in full Kremlin offensive to regain the influence lost after the dissolution of the Soviet empire.

With a degree in Hispanic Philology and Information Sciences, Bonet has been a correspondent in the USSR, Russia, Ukraine and several post-Soviet countries, as well as Germany. She has also done research at institutions such as the Kennan Institute and the Woodrow Wilson Center, and is the author of several books on Soviet and post-Soviet reality.
