Luis Rubiales lived this Thursday a convulsive afternoon during the presentation of his book“Matar a Rubiales“(Killing Rubiales). What was supposed to be a promotional event turned into an unexpected episode when a hooded man burst into the audience and threw several eggs at the former head of the Spanish Football Federation.
Rubiales even went so far as to rush towards him before the assistants intervened to stop the altercation.

Minutes later, the identity of the assailant came to light, and the twist surprised everyone: the perpetrator of the attack was his own uncle, Luis Rubén Rubiales.
Witnesses of the incident reported that he shouted “scoundrel”, accusing his nephew of having fractured the family since the scandal with Jenni Hermoso.

Why did his own uncle attack Luis Rubiales?
As he explained, his intention was to publicly reproach him for decisions that have caused irreparable distancing. Among them, the dismissal of another uncle, Juan, who worked under Rubiales in the Federation.
Luis Rubén assured that his family rift with the former president is not limited to that episode, but that he is dragging along a malaise that, he says, has been accumulating over the last five years. He also reproaches Rubiales for not attending to his grandmother, with whom he currently lives and cares for. “It’s not just Juan, many things have happened,” he told the media after being identified.
After the attack, Luis Rubén Rubiales was restrained by the officers present and ended up leaving the scene without charges. Far from showing remorse, he insisted that his actions could even benefit his nephew because of the media repercussion of the incident.
“You would have to thank me for the promotion,” he ironized when asked.
