Adrián Rodríguez‘s relapse, made known last week through a statement on his social networks, has not only reopened the conversation about mental health and addictions, but also the silent drama experienced by his loved ones. His father, Antonio Rodríguez, has given a moving testimony about how these ten years have been accompanying his son in the fight against drugs, a process marked by multiple admissions, relapses and a devastating emotional and economic toll.
“It’s not the first relapse he’s had, there have been many.”
The father of the Física o Química and Los Serrano actor confessed harshly that this situation has been going on for too long: “This is not the first relapse he has had, there have been many,” he said .
Antonio also explained how, despite trying to find answers, he never found a clear reason to justify the start of his son’s consumption: “Many times you blame yourself and think you’ve done something wrong, but he hasn’t had a harmful environment, so you don’t assimilate it.
Adrián’s addiction, she said, has been affecting the whole family for a decade. “He has only been clean for a few months,” he lamented in the program, recalling that his son has been admitted to five detoxification centers without achieving a stable recovery.
Manipulation, lies and emotional exhaustion: “He used me and his mother a lot”.
The father’s testimony also revealed particularly harsh episodes experienced during these years. “He used his mother and me a lot, he told each of us one thing and his mother protected him a lot,” he explained.
This combination of deceit, fear, overprotection and desperation led Antonio to an extreme situation in which he even had to hide the truth from those around him: he was forced to lie about where his son was, even when he was in an institution.
After so many comings and goings, Antonio took a drastic measure to save himself: “It’s very painful, but you have to do it, because if not, it drags you down,” he confessed. The distance he decided to put with his son has been absolute: “I haven’t seen him in person for a year and a half”.
Addictions not only leave emotional wounds. They also compromise the economic future of those around the affected person. Antonio Rodríguez summed it up devastatingly: “I have my paycheck garnished because I guaranteed him, in a week I have to call the center to say I can’t pay and I don’t know what’s going to happen”.

On Sunday, November 9, Adrián Rodríguez used his social networks to communicate that he was resuming a more intense rehabilitation treatment. In a very personal message, he acknowledged that his last few months had not been as positive as they seemed. He wrote: “After several months believing that I am better and other projects that I wanted to carry out… I have to admit that everything has been part of my illness”.
In that same statement, he added one of the most striking phrases of his testimony: “And the little light that I still have left inside me has returned to enlighten me to return to treatment”. The actor, who participated in Supervivientes in 2018 and left after less than 20 days because of his addictions, already explained then that that experience made him realize that his situation was untenable.

In this new message, the performer asks for understanding and warns that this time he is not setting any deadlines. His absolute priority is rehabilitation: “There is no see you soon… I will only come back when I am really well and strong. This is to obey and do the right things every day, so I thank everyone and above all apologize to all the people to whom I have caused debts or any other inconvenience”.
Before finishing, he warns that he will be isolated during the process: “I will be completely incommunicado. Thank you and a big kiss”.
