The 2025 edition of the Miss Universe pageant is being one of the most turbulent in recent years. In addition to the controversies, rudeness and tensions that have surrounded the competition, there is now an episode that has caused great concern: the spectacular fall of Miss Jamaica, Gabrielle Henry, who had to be evacuated on a stretcher after collapsing on the stage.
The contest, which is held in Thailand and whose final will take place this Friday, has experienced a new shock when the Jamaican candidate suddenly collapsed. According to the journalist Jorge Arena in the video broadcast by Informativos Telecinco, “the Jamaican representative collapsed to the ground”, a moment that left both the public and the organization in shock.

Although there is still no official version explaining the exact cause, some information suggests that there could have been a hole in the stage, which would have caused the accident. If confirmed, it would be another setback for a production already questioned by logistical problems and previous controversies.
Gabrielle Henry, considered one of the favorites of the contest, was “evacuated to the hospital on a stretcher”, and her participation in the final remains uncertain. The organization has not yet determined if she will be able to reappear this Friday, pending her medical evolution.
A parade marred by the incident
Miss Jamaica’s accident took place during the well-known costume parade, one of the most colorful and awaited events of the pageant. As every year, the candidates wore spectacular costumes that pay homage to the cultures of their respective countries.
There were eye-catching and creative proposals, although attention also fell on the Norwegian candidate, whose wardrobe paid tribute to one of the country’s star products: Norwegian salmon. The risky -and commented- design caught the eye and became one of the anecdotes of the day.
However, the spectacular fashion show was overshadowed by Gabrielle Henry’s fall, which profoundly set the tone for this edition.
An issue full of tensions and accusations
The Miss Jamaica incident is not the only episode that has generated controversy this year. The 2025 edition of Miss Universe has accumulated a string of scandals that have called into question the stability of the pageant.
In the last few hours, two judges have resigned, accusing the organization of rigging the selection process. Thus, the credibility of the contest is once again at the center of the debate.
In addition, the controversial episode starring Thai businessman Nawat Itsaragrisil, president of Miss Grand International (MGI) and regional director in Asia of Miss Universe, still resonates after he insulted Mexican contestant Fatima Bosch for not attending the filming of a commercial. Bosch responded bluntly: “I am not a doll.
Her firm stance provoked a gesture of solidarity from other candidates – among them the representatives of Bahamas, Armenia, Cape Verde and Palestine – who decided to stand up in support of the Mexican.
A perfect storm at Miss Universe 2025
What was supposed to be a celebration of talent, culture and international glamour has turned into an edition marked by tensions, accidents and questions. Gabrielle Henry’s fall adds a new chapter to a contest that this year cannot escape the media noise.
While awaiting an update on the state of Miss Jamaica’s health – and her eventual participation in the final – the Miss Universe organization is facing increasing pressure to explain what happened and ensure the safety and transparency of the pageant.
Miss Universe 2025, far from shining for its pageants, will be remembered for a succession of moments that have put the spotlight on both its structure and its internal management. The development of this Friday’s final will determine whether the gala manages to redirect the narrative or if the controversies will continue to overshadow the show.
