A serious multiple accident registered this Monday on the A-6, at the height of Collado Villalba, has left 24 people injured, two of them in serious condition. The accident involved a bus with 32 passengers, a delivery truck and a van, as reported by Emergencias 112 Comunidad de Madrid. The collision, which took place around 8:30 am, caused a heavy traffic jam at rush hour.
Two seriously injured and a complex rescue
According to the data provided by 112, the two most seriously injured persons are a passenger of the bus and the driver of the truck, both trapped after the impact. Their release required the intervention of the Firefighters of the Community of Madrid, who performed extrication maneuvers and secured the area to avoid further risks.
In addition to the two seriously injured, there were four moderately injured (three bus passengers and the van driver) and 18 slightly injured, all of them adults, who were treated at the scene by Summa 112 medical staff.

The fire department sent seven crews from the Las Rozas and Villalba fire stations to the accident. In a statement recorded in the area, they explained:
The spokesman also detailed the tasks performed: “Both in the truck and in the bus different victims have been trapped and therefore we have had to carry out extrication work”.
The importance of seat belts on the bus
In their message, the firefighters launched a key reminder after noting the seriousness of the trapped injured: “It is in our interest to remember and emphasize the importance of wearing seat belts when traveling by bus to avoid problems arising from possible accidents”.

Although it is not mandatory in all types of public transport, officers insist that seat belts can make the difference between minor injuries and serious trauma.
Healthcare and traffic partially reopened
While the firefighters worked on the rescue, Summa 112 teams attended to the slightly and moderately injured, some of whom presented contusions and cervicalgia due to the strong impact. The most affected were taken to referral hospitals.
For their part, the Guardia Civil took control of the traffic and managed to reopen one lane after the first hour of intervention, although traffic jams continued for a good part of the morning due to the magnitude of the operation.
Investigation underway to clarify the causes
A specialized team from the Guardia Civil has already begun collecting evidence: from witness statements to a detailed analysis of the damage to the vehicles. The content of the traffic cameras is also being reviewed to reconstruct the exact sequence of the accident and to determine whether any of the vehicles underwent an abrupt maneuver or unexpected braking before the impact.
So far, no official hypotheses have been circulated about the origin of the multiple accidents, although the authorities recall that chain accidents early in the day are frequent on roads with high traffic density such as the A-6.
