The Juan de la Cierva Sports Center in Getafe hosted this weekend the Spanish Judo Cup in children and cadet categories , one of the most important competitions of the national calendar, bringing together more than 700 judokas from all the autonomous communities and with a notable international participation from Portugal. The Sant Jordi Judo Club traveled there with an expedition of eleven athletes and two coaches to face two intense days of competition.
Dina Hamri, champion in the Cadet Spanish Cup
Saturday was marked by the outstanding performance of Dina Hamri, who was proclaimed champion in -48 kg in the Spanish Cup “A” Cadet. Starting as the top seed, she more than fulfilled the predictions and solved all her bouts by ippon: in the eighth round against Noemí García, in the quarterfinals against Paula Trabado and in the semifinals against Sandra Montero, both bronze medalists.
In the final she imposed her authority against Carolina Caro, reaffirming herself as one of the most solid figures in her category and consolidating her position as number 2 in the national ranking. With this medal, the club now has ten podiums in Spanish Cups this season.

Participation of the rest of the team
The Sant Jordi expedition completed a solid performance in the cadet categories on Saturday. Martina López (-48 kg) and Unai Gómez achieved initial victories before falling in the second round and repechage. José Jiménez (-60 kg) and Iván Agües (-66 kg) got through the first round and were defeated in the next round. Álvaro Menéndez (-60 kg), Abel Darvey and Marc Tirado (-66 kg), along with Carlos Planells and Jordi Torres (-73 kg), could not overcome their first bout despite the good work shown.
