The Sala Refectori of the Town Hall of Ibiza hosts this afternoon a micro-theater proposal that invites to reflect on the experience of migrant women working in the home and care. The play, ’23kg. Stories of women who sustain life’. will premiere today, November 14 at 7:30 p.m., in an initiative promoted by the Fons Pitiús de Cooperació.
Voices that sustain daily life
Performed by the Hermanas Picohueso company, the play addresses the social and institutional barriers faced by migrant women workers: racist, gender and class violence that condition their daily lives in the domestic and care spheres. The montage is inspired by the documentary ‘Cuidant-nos’, produced by the Andiara association based on real testimonies, and stages stories that, despite their importance in sustaining daily life, rarely receive public attention.
Colloquium and complementary exhibition
After the performance, the audience will be able to participate in a discussion with the members of Hermanas Picohueso and Abril Iriani, co-founder of Andiara. The dialogue will provide an opportunity to explore the issues raised in the play and share perspectives on the working and social conditions of these women.
Admission is free until full capacity is reached. In addition, those who attend will be able to visit the exhibition ‘Històries de migracions: Eivissa i Formentera, terra de sortida i arribada’, also promoted by the Fons Pitiús de Cooperació. The exhibition will remain at the Sala Refectori until November 27.
