The City Council of Sant Antoni has announced a change in its Christmas program regarding the opening of the municipal nativity scene. The opening, initially scheduled for Sunday, December 14, will finally be held on Thursday, December 18 at 5 p.m. due to an unforeseen adjustment in the making of the nativity scene.
The traditional nativity scene maker Jesús González will not be able to create the nativity scene this year, so the responsibility has been assumed by José Luis Maeso, a master nativity scene maker originally from Valladolid and resident in Ibiza. Maeso has an extensive experience of 14 years elaborating the nativity scene of Ibiza and now faces the creation of the municipal nativity scene of Sant Antoni.

As explained by the author himself, the nativity scene of this edition -of about 7 m²- will recreate the mystery of the birth and the arrival of the Magi, with high quality figures and a careful setting full of vegetation. “It is a Castilian nativity scene in which I try to manifest a space for contemplation that invites you to imagine that moment of the birth of Jesus, especially capturing the gaze of children, protagonists of Christmas, but also that of the elderly. I thank the City Council of Sant Antoni for the trust placed in me to evoke illusions with this year’s nativity scene,” said Maeso.
The municipal nativity scene will be located at Santa Agnès street , number 4, and can be visited from Monday to Friday, from 5 to 8 pm, and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, from 11 am to 1 pm and from 5 to 8 pm. The City Council invites all citizens to attend the opening and enjoy this traditional Christmas performance that marks the beginning of local celebrations.
