The City Council of Sant Josep de sa Talaia, through the Department of Culture, has presented a new edition of the cycle ‘Divendres de Cine a Can Jeroni’, a cultural proposal fully consolidated in the municipality that this 2026 puts the focus on a careful selection of some of the best films of the XXI century.
The cycle will begin this Friday, January 9, and will be developed with screenings every Friday at 20.00 hours in the hall of Can Jeroni, always in original version subtitled in Spanish (VOSE), a firm commitment to cinema in its original format and for a quality cinematic experience.
Quality culture and cinema throughout the year
The Councilor for Culture, Maria José Ríos, stressed that “as every winter, from the Department of Culture we return with enthusiasm to the consolidated programming of ‘Divendres de Cine’ in Can Jeroni; an initiative with which we reaffirm our commitment to quality cinema and with the aim of giving cultural life to Sant Josep throughout the year”. In this sense, he stressed that the hall has become “an unavoidable meeting point for all residents who love original version cinema”.
For his part, the coordinator of Culture of the City Council, Bartomeu Tur, said that the department faces this new edition “with great enthusiasm, after the improvement work done in the center”. He also remarked that the cycle is resumed “with strength, keeping it as a stable appointment so that Can Jeroni continues to be the reference of Friday cinema on the island of Ibiza”.
Programming with an international stamp
This year’s program has been designed by Pablo Alcántara, in charge of the cycle, who explained that the selection has been made based on prestigious references such as specialized media, international film databases and lists of critics and journalists. “From these sources, we make our own choice, always trying to maintain a high quality standard,” he said.
Alcántara added that these are titles that have been recognized at festivals or have won important awards, and stressed that “we take risks with powerful proposals, but always with the aim of offering quality cinema, not only as entertainment, but also as a transmitter of a message”. Finally, he expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in the programming team to shape this new edition.
