On November 28, Estudio Laterna opens El jardín que me habita, the first solo exhibition of visual artist Violeta Galera, a show that will remain open to the public until January 30, 2026 at her space in Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera. Curated by Andrea Sanchez, the exhibition brings together a selection of recent works that reveal the gestural, material and emotional universe of the creator from Madrid, closely linked to Ibiza.
A constant dialogue between intention and spontaneity
Galera’s proposal is built from a pictorial process in which intuition and gesture acquire a central role. His work, situated between gestural abstraction and the exploration of controlled chance, stands out for the use of color in its pure state, the luminosity of the compositions and a contained energy that emerges directly from the process.
Each piece functions as a reflection of a way of observing, living and acting in which there are no boundaries between art and life.
The artist incorporates in several canvases marks, traces and interventions from her immediate environment. These are not added symbols, but real traces that are part of her daily practice, integrated as a physical memory of time, space and experience.
The search for the authentic gesture
Violeta Galera is part of a line of artists who explore the expressive potential of the stroke, in dialogue with references such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Cy Twombly or Franz Kline. Her work is committed to the immediacy of the gesture, experimentation with materials and the conscious rupture of traditional composition, configuring a coherent and constantly evolving production.
El jardín que me habita presents this pictorial path for the first time alone, inviting the viewer to delve into the layers of color, energy, memory and inner landscape that inhabit each work.
