Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera will host on December 13 and 14 the first Rural Fair of Fruitera, a new event aimed at strengthening the connection between the community and its agricultural heritage. The initiative, promoted by the Group of Traditional Dances Santa Gertrudis, was born with the purpose of bringing the culture of the Ibizan countryside to residents and visitors through traditional activities, exhibitions and proposals for all audiences.
Rural heritage, handicrafts and local gastronomy
The meeting will feature about sixty stalls dedicated to local crafts, products made on the island and elements linked to the agricultural world. Attendees will be able to discover a sample of ancient and modern agricultural machinery, which will allow them to discover the evolution of the tools used historically in the Pitiusan countryside.
The fair will also offer a representation of native fauna, with animals of traditional breeds, as well as spaces for dissemination and direct sale of agricultural products. In the gastronomic section, the public will be able to taste typical dishes of Ibizan cuisine -such as the popular paella, frita de porc or torrada de sobrassada- as well as traditional sweets and local elaborations.
The reservation of tickets for the popular meals will remain open until December 8, with the possibility of acquiring them also during the fair while stocks last.
Music, dances and family activities
The program will combine culture, music and participatory proposals throughout the weekend. Among the highlights are the ballada popular open to all the colles of Eivissa, the cercavila through the streets of Santa Gertrudis and the concert of Aires Formenterencs, in addition to the Campionat de Tirada de Bitlles, which will take place during the two days.
Families will be able to enjoy children’s workshops, giant games and activities coordinated by different cultural groups of the island, consolidating the fair as a space for intergenerational encounters.
