The City Council of Ibiza has presented this Monday December 1, 2025 the I Contest of Decoration and Lighting of Balconies, Windows, Facades and Christmas Shop Windows, an initiative that seeks to fill with festive spirit the spaces visible from the street and encourage the participation of both residents and commercial establishments.
Registration is free of charge and is already available through the form available at www.eivissaparticipa.eswhere anyone interested can sign up until December 17, 2025, the deadline by which the decorations must be completely installed and visible from the street.
Two categories to boost local creativity
The contest, aimed at both individuals and businesses, aims to beautify the town and encourage imagination, light and color characteristic of these dates. To this end, two categories have been established:

Category A: Balconies, windows and facades of private homes.

Category B: Shop windows.
A jury appointed by the City Council will visit all the decorations on December 18 and 19, after which it will select three finalists per category.
Popular voting via Instagram
The winners will be decided by a popular vote in the Instagram stories of the City Council of Eivissa, which will be active during the 20th and 21st of December. In this way, citizens will be able to value the most original, bright and representative proposals of the Christmas spirit.
To encourage participation, the Consistory will award three prizes per category, in the form of coupons to consume in the stores participating in the municipal campaign of Christmas commercial revitalization:

1st prize: 500 €.

2nd prize: 300 €.

3rd prize: 200 €.

Awards ceremony in Vara de Rey
The awards ceremony will be held on December 23 at the Paseo de Vara de Rey, where the winning decorations will be publicly announced and the talent and dedication of the participants will be recognized.
“With this first contest, the City Council of Eivissa encourages all citizens to contribute to create a festive, welcoming and bright atmosphere in the streets of the municipality. The initiative aims to promote creativity, coexistence and Christmas spirit, while boosting local commerce,” said the third deputy mayor, Blanca Hernandez.
The call is thus an opportunity for neighbors and visitors to enjoy a brighter and more participatory Ibiza during these festivities.
