The City Council of Sant Josep de sa Talaia has launched a full program of activities to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (November 25). Coordinated by the Department of Social Action, Family and Equality, the program aims to raise awareness, educate and involve citizens in building a municipality free of male violence.
Throughout the month, the municipality will offer educational, cultural and institutional actions aimed at different audiences, encouraging collective reflection on equality and respect for women.
Talks, theater and reflection
The program began on November 5 with the talk-colloquium “10 reasons to reject pornography”, given by psychologist and sexologist Alejandro Villena in the Caló de s’Oli Auditorium. The activity was aimed at secondary school students and addressed the influence of pornography consumption on relationships and perceptions about sexuality.
The program will continue on Saturday, November 15 at the same venue with the play “Todas las mujeres que habito”, by Ángela Conde, an artistic proposal that invites reflection on female identity and the multiple experiences that women go through. The performance will begin at 8:00 pm.
25N Institutional Event
The central point of the commemoration will take place on Tuesday, November 25, when the institutional act and reading of the manifesto will be held at 12.00 pm in front of the Town Hall of Sant Josep de sa Talaia. The event will be attended by municipal representatives and local entities, reaffirming the common commitment to eradicate any form of violence against women.
Family activities and reading spaces
On Tuesday, November 26, the Library of Cala de Bou will host the storytelling and workshop “¡Vivan las uñas de colores!”, by Clàudia Moreno, aimed at children from five years old. The activity will begin at 5.30 pm and requires prior registration.
On November 27 and 28, the Vicent Serra Orvay Library (Sant Jordi) will offer the literary exhibition “Rincón violeta 25N”, with a selection of works that promote equality and respect through reading.
Movies to close the month
The program will conclude on Friday, November 28 with the screening of the film “Breaking the circle”, at 8:00 pm in the Caló de s’Oli Auditorium. The session invites to reflect on the overcoming and freedom of women in the face of male violence, closing a month of activities focused on awareness and community action.
