The Consell Insular de Formentera, through the area of Equality, has announced the program of activities on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which is celebrated on November 25. Under the slogan “Raise your voice against violence against women”, the institution promotes a campaign that seeks to raise awareness, visibility and mobilize citizens against male violence, while claiming the collective strength of women and sisterhood as keys to social change.
Throughout November, the island will host lectures, screenings, social theater, exhibitions and workshops distributed in different cultural and educational spaces.
A month of activities for all audiences
The program began on November 5 and 6 with social theater sessions for equality and prevention of gender violence, by Teatro de Choque, aimed at primary and secondary school students.
The agenda will continue on Monday, November 17, at 19.00 pm in the Plenary Hall, with the conference “The value of the invisible work of women in the Formentera of the twentieth century”, given by Stella Mally and Mònica Grau, within the Joan Marí Cardona Local Studies Conference.
On Friday, November 21, at 6:30 p.m., the talk “From silence to voice: sorority and feminist construction” will be given by Claudia Cotaina Rosselló, who will address the alliances between women as a tool to combat patriarchy.
That same weekend, from November 21 to 23, the Sala de Cultura (Cinema) will screen the film “Las chicas de la estación” (2024), directed by Juana Macías.
In addition, from November 24 to 29, at 7 p.m., the Old Town Hall will host the exhibition “Silence”, by Myriam G., an intimate journey through the invisible stages of the process of personal reconstruction of women who have suffered gender violence.
Central acts of the 25N in Sant Francesc
On Tuesday November 25 will be held the central day of 25N in the Constitution Square of Sant Francesc, with a participatory program open to all citizens:

10:00 a.m. Information table and poster creation workshop.

16:00 h: 25N rally and participatory table of screen printing and collective mapping, with the FIGA association.

16:15 h: Batucada of the group Bloco Colubraria.

16:30 h: Reading of the manifesto and activities carried out by women volunteers, by Espai Dones Formentera.

17:30 h: “Weaving networks”, performative artistic intervention to raise awareness about gender violence, also with the participation of FIGA.
Closing of the program: women, migration and violence
On Friday, November 28, at 5 p.m. at the Espai Cultural de Sant Ferran, will take place the round table “Women, migration and violence”, a space for reflection and debate on personal experiences of migrant women from a cross-cutting view of gender violence.
With this program, the Consell de Formentera reaffirms its firm commitment to the fight against all forms of violence against women.
