Santa Eulària des Riu is preparing to live a brighter and more participatory holiday season with the launch of its first Christmas decoration contest for balconies, an initiative that seeks to involve citizens and transform the urban landscape into a scene full of color, creativity and Christmas spirit. The contest also aims to promote the use of sustainable materials and environmentally friendly practices.
Participation open to neighbors and communities
All residents of Santa Eulària who have a balcony, window, facade or doorway visible from the public road may participate. The contest has two categories:
-
Category A: private homes.
-
Category B: Neighborhood communities.
The contest requires a minimum of five entries in the individual category and three in the community category. In the latter case, participants must present a document of acceptance and ensure that the decoration covers at least 50% of the visible common elements.

Free registration until November 24
Participation is free and can be formalized until November 24, 2025 through an online form provided by the City Council. The decorations must remain installed and visible between December 1, 2025 and January 6, 2026, always ensuring safety, compliance with urban planning regulations and, in the case of using lighting, with the technical regulations in force.
Awards to support local commerce
The contest will award three prizes per category, consisting of shopping coupons redeemable in stores participating in the Christmas commercial revitalization campaign.
Awards for private homes:
-
1st prize: 500 €.
-
2nd prize: 300 €.
-
3rd prize: 200 €.
Awards for neighborhood communities:
-
1st prize: 700 €.
-
2nd prize: 500 €.
-
3rd prize: 300 €.
Professional jury and popular vote
A jury composed of municipal representatives and experts in art, design and gardening will be in charge of the evaluation of the decorations, whose score will represent 70% of the total. Criteria such as creativity, aesthetics, lighting, quality of finish and the use of recycled or sustainable materials will be taken into account.
The remaining 30% will be decided by citizens through a vote on social networks, thus encouraging participation and visibility of local talent.
On December 12, 2025, the decision will be made public at an official ceremony organized by the City Council.
