{"id":135150,"date":"2025-11-06T09:13:35","date_gmt":"2025-11-06T08:13:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/sin-categorizar\/end-of-supermarket-converted-into-substandard-housing-in-the-heart-of-ibiza-eviction-ordered\/"},"modified":"2025-11-06T09:13:35","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T08:13:35","slug":"end-of-supermarket-converted-into-substandard-housing-in-the-heart-of-ibiza-eviction-ordered","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/en\/current-news\/end-of-supermarket-converted-into-substandard-housing-in-the-heart-of-ibiza-eviction-ordered\/","title":{"rendered":"End of supermarket converted into substandard housing in the heart of Ibiza: eviction ordered"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"632\" data-end=\"1154\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/actualidad\/el-drama-de-la-vivienda-en-ibiza-un-supermercado-clausurado-esconde-un-plurifamiliar-de-infraviviendas-en-vila\/?swcfpc=1\"><strong data-start=\"635\" data-end=\"694\">supermarket closed and transformed into substandard housing<\/strong><\/a> at number 59 Arag\u00f3n street in Vila must be <strong data-start=\"758\" data-end=\"791\">evicted immediately<\/strong>, according to the decision of the <strong data-start=\"814\" data-end=\"864\">Court of First Instance number 4 of Ibiza<\/strong>, which has ruled in favor of the property owner.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"632\" data-end=\"1154\">\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/actualidad\/okupas-reformas-sin-licencia-y-un-multazo-ejemplar-en-un-falso-supermercado-de-ibiza\/?swcfpc=1\">Squatters, unlicensed reforms and an exemplary fine in a fake supermarket in Ibiza<\/a><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"632\" data-end=\"1154\">The sentence declares the lease contract terminated and forces all the occupants to leave the premises -as detailed this morning in <em>Diario de Ibiza-<\/em>, converted into an <strong data-start=\"1044\" data-end=\"1063\">illegal shelter<\/strong> without authorization and in conditions that have been described as <strong data-start=\"1126\" data-end=\"1153\">unhealthy and dangerous<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1204\" data-end=\"1711\">The situation of the premises came to light in August of 2024, when <a href=\"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/en\/\"><strong data-start=\"1268\" data-end=\"1287\">La Voz de Ibiza<\/strong><\/a> denounced that the former supermarket had become a kind of <strong data-start=\"1363\" data-end=\"1391\">undercover multi-family<\/strong>, divided into <strong data-start=\"1405\" data-end=\"1447\">ten rooms separated by plasterboard<\/strong>, where at least <strong data-start=\"1476\" data-end=\"1491\">20 people<\/strong> were staying in extremely precarious conditions.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1204\" data-end=\"1711\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/actualidad\/el-supermercado-clausurado-que-esconde-infraviviendas-en-vila-sigue-funcionando-pague-800-euros-mensuales-a-un-rumano-por-un-lugar-inhumano\/?swcfpc=1\">One of the ex-residents reported at the time that he paid <strong data-start=\"1584\" data-end=\"1610\">up to 800 euros a month<\/strong> to sleep on <strong data-start=\"1628\" data-end=\"1657\">pallets with thin mattresses<\/strong>, no kitchen and only <strong data-start=\"1683\" data-end=\"1708\">two shared bathrooms<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1713\" data-end=\"1970\">In addition to the <strong data-start=\"1727\" data-end=\"1754\">sanitation problems<\/strong>, such as <strong data-start=\"1761\" data-end=\"1795\">cockroach and mouse infestations<\/strong>, the testimony warned of <strong data-start=\"1823\" data-end=\"1844\">possible threats<\/strong> from the landlord, whom he identified as a Romanian national, usually accompanied by bodyguards.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1977\" data-end=\"2028\">Illegal construction sites, subleases and electrical risk<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2030\" data-end=\"2436\">The court decision comes after the lawsuit filed by the property of the premises, which already in 2023 denounced <strong data-start=\"2141\" data-end=\"2197\">serious breaches of the lease agreement<\/strong>, signed in August 2020 exclusively for the use of the space as a supermarket.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2030\" data-end=\"2436\">However, the tenant modified the structure of the premises without permission and began <strong data-start=\"2369\" data-end=\"2393\">subletting<\/strong> living space without authorization.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"2030\" data-end=\"2436\">\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/actualidad\/el-drama-de-la-vivienda-en-ibiza-un-supermercado-clausurado-esconde-un-plurifamiliar-de-infraviviendas-en-vila\/?swcfpc=1\">The housing drama in Ibiza: a closed supermarket hides a multi-family housing complex in Vila<\/a><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2438\" data-end=\"2940\">A municipal inspection carried out in 2023 confirmed the seriousness of the situation. The technical report described the existence of <strong data-start=\"2565\" data-end=\"2620\">independent rooms used as living quarters<\/strong>, lacking <strong data-start=\"2634\" data-end=\"2702\">the minimum conditions of ventilation, lighting and sanitation<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2438\" data-end=\"2940\">In addition, the municipal technicians detected an <strong data-start=\"2752\" data-end=\"2790\">overloaded electrical installation<\/strong>, wet floors due to the <strong data-start=\"2814\" data-end=\"2850\">collapse of the sewage system<\/strong> and the <strong data-start=\"2853\" data-end=\"2888\">risk of electrical accidents<\/strong> due to the use of <strong data-start=\"2903\" data-end=\"2939\">unprotected power strips and cables.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2947\" data-end=\"2992\">The use as a supermarket was never respected<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2994\" data-end=\"3478\">As has been proven in the trial, held last Tuesday, November 4, the tenant acted <strong data-start=\"3098\" data-end=\"3155\">without the consent or knowledge of the owner<\/strong>, carrying out works and enabling the space as a home despite the &#8220;total objection&#8221; of the property, as published this morning <em>Diario de Ibiza<\/em>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"2994\" data-end=\"3478\">\n<h5><a of commercial premises as substandard housing<\/strong> in the center of Ibiza, a practice that has grown in the heat of the <strong data-start=\"3676\" data-end=\"3699\">housing crisis<\/strong> on
