The president of the employers&#8217; association, <strong data-start=\"583\" data-end=\"599\">Alfonso Rojo<\/strong>, warns that the current situation causes <strong data-start=\"645\" data-end=\"695\">daily collapses in industrial parks<\/strong>, especially during the summer months. <\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"743\" data-end=\"783\">Daily saturation in the polygons<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"785\" data-end=\"1246\">Rojo gives as an example the <strong data-start=\"811\" data-end=\"838\">Montecristo industrial estate<\/strong>, where every morning, in the middle of the tourist season, <strong data-start=\"889\" data-end=\"933\">up to 50 trailers are concentrated<\/strong>, generating <strong data-start=\"945\" data-end=\"1015\">traffic jams that sometimes reach the accesses to the city of Ibiza<\/strong>. The trucks, he explains, disembark at the port early in the morning, unload the goods and <strong data-start=\"1110\" data-end=\"1189\">do not have adequate space to wait before boarding again<\/strong>, which contributes to the collapse of the main roads. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1248\" data-end=\"1620\">A similar situation is experienced in the <strong data-start=\"1284\" data-end=\"1308\">polygon of Can Buf\u00ed<\/strong>, whose <strong data-start=\"1315\" data-end=\"1358\">urban cataloging is outdated<\/strong>, preventing its formal recognition as an industrial zone. &#8220;Day to day life in Can Buf\u00ed is an odyssey,&#8221; assures the president of Pimeef to <em>Radio Ibiza<\/em>, &#8220;because the businessmen who work there <strong data-start=\"1540\" data-end=\"1568\">lose time and money<\/strong> due to the lack of adequate infrastructure.&#8221; <\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1622\" data-end=\"1664\">Lack of land and urban planning rigidity<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1666\" data-end=\"2079\">The employers&#8217; association insists that <strong data-start=\"1702\" data-end=\"1736\">the shortage of industrial land<\/strong> is one of the <strong data-start=\"1751\" data-end=\"1777\">main obstacles<\/strong> to the island&#8217;s economic development. Rojo proposes to <strong data-start=\"1832\" data-end=\"1876\">make urban planning regulations more flexible<\/strong> so that companies can <strong data-start=\"1906\" data-end=\"1932\">use basements<\/strong> as parking or storage spaces and <strong data-start=\"1982\" data-end=\"2005\">build in height<\/strong>, measures that, in his opinion, would partially alleviate the lack of space. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2081\" data-end=\"2480\">The business leader stresses that <strong data-start=\"2121\" data-end=\"2210\">industrial activity in Ibiza moves between 250 and 300 transport platforms per day<\/strong>, which makes it essential to have areas prepared for parking and loading. &#8220;It is not only a question of facilitating logistics,&#8221; Rojo explains, &#8220;but also of <strong data-start=\"2370\" data-end=\"2445\">organizing traffic, improving mobility and guaranteeing road safety<\/strong> at the accesses to the industrial estates.&#8221; <\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2482\" data-end=\"2517\">A recurring claim<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2519\" data-end=\"2949\">Pimeef recalls that this <strong data-start=\"2547\" data-end=\"2577\">claim is not new<\/strong>, but that every year the saturation worsens, especially during the high season, when the demand for supplies increases. Entrepreneurs insist that <strong data-start=\"2737\" data-end=\"2792\">without planning and without sufficient industrial land<\/strong>, the local economy faces a structural problem that <strong data-start=\"2854\" data-end=\"2881\">slows competitiveness<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"2884\" data-end=\"2946\">hinders the activity of small and medium enterprises.<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2951\" data-end=\"3196\">Rojo concludes that the sector needs a <strong data-start=\"2992\" data-end=\"3072\">coordinated response from the local and regional administrations<\/strong>, which will allow to <strong data-start=\"3086\" data-end=\"3124\">organize business growth<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"3127\" data-end=\"3193\">provide adequate services to the industrial areas of Ibiza<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Pimeef urges municipalities to expand industrial land and enable parking areas for trucks.
