The <strong data-start=\"382\" data-end=\"420\">Direcci\u00f3n General de Tr\u00e1fico (DGT)<\/strong> has confirmed that, as of <strong data-start=\"449\" data-end=\"479\">January 1 next year<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"485\" data-end=\"512\">connected V-16 beacons<\/strong> will be <strong data-start=\"519\" data-end=\"549\">the only legal device<\/strong> for signaling a vehicle stopped due to an accident or breakdown. With this, the traditional pre-signaling triangles will definitively disappear from the roads.  <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"720\" data-end=\"1073\">The aim of the measure is to <strong data-start=\"748\" data-end=\"778\">reinforce road safety<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"781\" data-end=\"816\">reduce the number of collisions<\/strong> that occur when drivers get out of the car to place the triangles. However, the DGT has warned that <strong data-start=\"935\" data-end=\"989\">not all beacons on the market are homologated<\/strong>, and using an unauthorized model <strong data-start=\"1026\" data-end=\"1070\">may result in fines of up to 200 euros.<\/strong> <\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1080\" data-end=\"1141\">Only homologated V-16 beacons will be valid in 2026<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1143\" data-end=\"1409\">The DGT maintains on its official website an <strong data-start=\"1180\" data-end=\"1240\">updated list of certified makes and models<\/strong> that meet the technical requirements. This document includes <strong data-start=\"1318\" data-end=\"1406\">the make, model, certificate number, date of homologation and applicant company.<\/strong> <span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">&#8220;Not all beacons that are advertised as connected are homologated,&#8221; says the agency, which insists on the importance of <\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\" data-start=\"1541\" data-end=\"1601\">verifying that the device appears on the official list<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"> before buying it.<\/span> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/en\/society\/dgt-clarifies-how-to-correctly-use-connected-v16-beacons-dos-and-donts-in-case-of-failure\/?swcfpc=1\">DGT clarifies how to correctly use connected V16 beacons: do&#8217;s and don&#8217;ts in case of failure<\/a><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1625\" data-end=\"1938\">This registry is key, as only the <strong data-start=\"1665\" data-end=\"1730\">beacons included in it will be authorized for legal use<\/strong> from next year. Using a model without homologation or without connection to the DGT 3.0 platform will be <strong data-start=\"1839\" data-end=\"1862\">a minor infraction<\/strong> punishable by <strong data-start=\"1878\" data-end=\"1935\">fines ranging from 80 to 200 euros.<\/strong> <\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1945\" data-end=\"2008\">A definitive replacement for emergency triangles<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2010\" data-end=\"2300\">The use of <strong data-start=\"2024\" data-end=\"2057\">pre-signaling triangles<\/strong> will be history. Until now, drivers had to get out of the vehicle to place them at a certain distance from the car, a maneuver that entailed <strong data-start=\"2203\" data-end=\"2237\">a high risk of being run over<\/strong>, especially on fast roads or in poor visibility. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/lavozdeibiza.com\/sociedad\/la-dgt-cambia-las-reglas-para-los-conductores-mayores-de-65-anos-asi-funcionaran-las-nuevas-restricciones-personalizadas\/?swcfpc=1\">DGT changes the rules for drivers over 65: how the new personalized restrictions will work<\/a><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2302\" data-end=\"2606\">The <strong data-start=\"2305\" data-end=\"2320\">V-16 beacon<\/strong>, on the other hand, <strong data-start=\"2333\" data-end=\"2377\">is activated from inside the vehicle<\/strong> and is <strong data-start=\"2380\" data-end=\"2438\">placed on the roof without the need to leave the car<\/strong>. Its <strong data-start=\"2443\" data-end=\"2461\">magnetic base<\/strong> allows it to be easily attached to the bodywork, while its <strong data-start=\"2524\" data-end=\"2553\">yellow flashing light<\/strong> is visible <strong data-start=\"2565\" data-end=\"2603\">from more than one kilometer away<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2608\" data-end=\"2802\">With this change, Spain aligns itself with the safety standards of other European countries, where similar devices are already used to signal emergencies more quickly and safely.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2809\" data-end=\"2872\">Dual function: signaling and direct connection to DGT<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2874\" data-end=\"3074\">The <strong data-start=\"2877\" data-end=\"2902\">connected V-16 beacon<\/strong> not only improves road visibility, but also <strong data-start=\"2956\" data-end=\"3031\">automatically sends the vehicle&#8217;s location to the DGT 3.0 platform<\/strong> thanks to its geolocation system. The DGT recommends following these steps: <\/p>\n<ol data-start=\"3796\" data-end=\"4217\">\n<li data-start=\"3796\" data-end=\"3867\">\n<p data-start=\"3799\" data-end=\"3867\"><strong data-start=\"3799\" data-end=\"3831\">See the official list<\/strong> published on its website<a target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"3853\" data-end=\"3863\">(www.dgt.es).<\/a><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3868\" data-end=\"3972\">\n<p data-start=\"3871\" data-end=\"3972\"><strong data-start=\"3871\" data-end=\"3909\">Check the certificate number<\/strong> on the packaging or on the bottom of the device.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3973\" data-end=\"4086\">\n<p data-start=\"3976\" data-end=\"4086\"><strong data-start=\"3976\" data-end=\"4047\">Check that the model is marked as &#8220;connected and certified&#8221;<\/strong> by the Direcci\u00f3n General de Tr\u00e1fico.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"4087\" data-end=\"4217\">\n<p data-start=\"4090\" data-end=\"4217\">Make sure it has <strong data-start=\"4119\" data-end=\"4149\">the approval symbol<\/strong> and the name of the accredited laboratory that issued the certificate.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p data-start=\"4219\" data-end=\"4334\">If your device is not on that list, it <strong data-start=\"4263\" data-end=\"4305\">will not be authorized for legal use<\/strong> as of January 2026.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"4341\" data-end=\"4381\">Fines for non-compliance<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"4383\" data-end=\"4581\">Circulating without an approved beacon, or continuing to use the triangles, <strong data-start=\"4458\" data-end=\"4493\">will constitute a minor infraction<\/strong>.
