The Ibiza Town Council held an extraordinary plenary session this Thursday in which several initiatives of great impact for the municipality were approved, including an agreement with the Consell Insular valued at 1,003,156 euros<\/strong> to strengthen housing policies. In addition, the green light has been given to a budget amendment of 500,000 euros<\/g> to meet the urgent expenses arising from the damages caused by the storms Ex Gabrielle<\/g> and Alice<\/g>. The total valuation of the damages amounts to 25 million euros<\/strong>, as reported by the Councillor for Trade and Markets, \u00c0lex Minchiotti. <\/p>\n

An agreement to expand the supply of housing and facilitate access for young people<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Councilor for Social Welfare and Housing, Lola Pen\u00edn<\/strong>, explained that the agreement with the Consell aims to “facilitate access to decent and affordable housing” within the framework of competence of both institutions, in line with the Plan Insular de Cooperaci\u00f3n Municipal.<\/p>\n

The agreement contemplates three lines of action<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

  1. \n

    Aid for renting<\/strong> A 250,000 euro<\/strong> item intended for families in the municipality that do not receive other housing aid from the Balearic Government.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    Rehabilitation of a municipal building for coliving<\/strong> An investment of 567,320 euros<\/strong> to adapt a building located at Avinguda de la Pau, 3<\/strong> with criteria of habitability and energy efficiency. The building, recovered after an eviction procedure initiated in June, will be used for affordable housing for young people. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    Acquisition and rehabilitation of a dilapidated building<\/strong> 185,834 euros<\/strong> will be allocated to purchase and rehabilitate a run-down building at 28 Verge Street,<\/strong> where four public housing units<\/strong> will be built, also for young people, in order to encourage them to settle in the municipality.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    “This agreement reaffirms the commitment of both institutions to housing policies and to the creation of real opportunities for citizens,” said Pen\u00edn.<\/p>\n

    Transformation of EI-10 into an urban avenue<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    The plenary also approved another relevant agreement with the Consell Insular for the transformation of the cross road of the EI-10<\/strong>, between the junctions of ses Figueretes and Can Misses, with an investment of more than 13 million euros<\/strong>. The City Council will be in charge of bidding and executing the works. <\/p>\n

    The Councilor of Works, Blanca Hern\u00e1ndez<\/strong>, stressed the strategic importance of the project: “The EI-10 has been for decades a physical and visual border that separated the city. With this intervention, we will link ses Figueretes and Can Misses with a modern, green and fully urban road”.<\/p>\n

    500,000 euros to repair urgent damage after the storms<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    The Consistory also approved a budget amendment to allocate 500,000 euros<\/strong> from the Contingency Fund for work already carried out after the storms Ex Gabrielle<\/em> and Alice<\/em>.<\/p>\n

    During the debate, Councilman \u00c0lex Minchiotti again called on the central government to declare Ibiza as an area seriously affected by a Civil Protection emergency<\/strong>. He also recalled that the Balearic Government will allocate five million euros in<\/strong> direct aid for those affected, managed through an agreement with the Consell Insular to expedite its processing. <\/p>\n

    Eivissa, on the way to “zero debt”.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    The plenary also approved the budget amendment necessary to repay in advance the loan of 11.95 million euros<\/strong> with Caja Rural de Arag\u00f3n, thanks to the surplus of the 2024 fiscal year. The Councilor for Economic Resources, Gema Mar\u00ed<\/strong>, pointed out that this operation will allow the City Council to be debt-free<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

    The funds from this loan have made it possible to implement key projects, such as:<\/p>\n

      Expansion of the Can Cant\u00f3 nursery school<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Acquisition of vehicles for the Local Police<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Investments in urban mobility<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Improvement of municipal cemeteries<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Renovation of playgrounds<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Actions on beaches and bathing areas<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Funds for the Municipal Library<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Investments in public transportation<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Improvements in sports facilities, among others<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      New stage in drinking water and sanitation management<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      The plenary also approved the award of the concession contract for the municipality’s drinking water supply and sanitation service. The company FCC Aqualia SA<\/strong> obtained the highest score in the process, with 97.29 points<\/strong>, and must submit the final documentation to formalize the contract. <\/p>\n

      Councilman Rub\u00e9n Sousa<\/strong> detailed that the new service contemplates 17 million euros in investments<\/strong> over eight years, with 49 priority actions<\/strong>, focused on improving water, sewerage and rainwater infrastructures.<\/p>\n

      Addendum to the Tourism Sustainability Plan approved<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      Finally, the plenary gave the green light to the addendum to the Tourism Sustainability Plan in La Marina, Port and city of Ibiza<\/strong>, a key piece in the strategy of urban and environmental transformation of the municipality.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
